America’s Hub for Black Owned Coffees

Coffee, along with tobacco, sugar cane, and cotton, was a crop cultivated by slave labor in the Americas, connecting Black lives to the history of the plant's massive influence in modern culture. The coffee plant rooted from Africa—it was discovered and taken from Northeastern Africa, derived from Ethiopia with distinct nearby populations in Sudan and Kenya in the 17th century.

Since then, coffee has been exploited and developed to become the 2nd most-traded commodity consumed by most industrialized nations. In the United States alone, hundreds of millions of people drink coffee regularly to start their day, a midday boost to get them through the remaining hours of their day, or even as a comfort drink.

There are thousands of coffee roasters in the US. Sadly, Black coffee roasters only represent a small margin of this highly coveted and competitive coffee market; nonetheless, several Black-Owned coffee roasters and brands are working to shift the discourse surrounding this popular beverage.

Each of these Black Owned roasters is unique with a story worth sharing, and we are here to evangelize it.
